Yes, I am still working on this thing called...
I haven’t written much publicly about my pending adoption. It’s not that there is nothing to say. There are endless things to say. Thoughts of Asher and Phoebe consume huge portions of my mind. My heart is still full from the brief phone call I had with them both two Sundays ago. Asher sang me a song and asked when I was coming for him. Phoebe’s sweet voice, that sounds so much...

Crowdsourcing a miracle: Blue Like Jazz the movie →
So, I’m happy to share that I am part of the 4500 people who crowdsourced this to the screen. If you strain your eyes, you’ll actually see my name in the credits as an associate producer. But don’t go see the film to see that. See it because it’s a good story. Then talk about it. I helped put together a conversation guide you can download here: http://bit.ly/HO9Ngt Thus...

Me and the chickens
So I have been up and productive since 4:30 this am. And also kind of sick. But feeling better. Although it feels like it should be lunch. I wish I were more of a morning person. It is quiet and calm then. Even my two dogs pulled the towels over their heads when they heard me stirring. Now when does that happen.?

AN INSIDE LOOK Imagine if you had to watch the film on dial-up, in another language, seeing only parts of it at best. And only 2% of the population can even do that. That’s the viewing situation in Northern Uganda. I might get the idea it was a little too much of making Kony famous too. Oh my. And in other news, more and more people are being displaced in the areas of DRC where Asher and...

Invisible pain
Ok so I have been following the maelstorm surrounding the release of the #kony2012 film with serious interest. It is a film that has been in the making for 9 years and has been received with bandwagon support and opposition that has now culminated in the public humiliation of a really good guy with a really good goal by the very medium he was hoping to channel for good. and his own personal pain...

Putting an End to the Myth of the Weaker Sex
On International Women’s Day, it is appropriate to celebrate the gains women have made towards achieving equal economic and political status. But let’s not forget the amazing women around the world who are demonstrating extraordinary strength in the face of true evil and forever destroying the stereotype of the ‘weaker sex’.

Congo Post Election →
From what Congolese insiders seem to be saying, the news is only reporting the tip of the iceberg of what is actually happening to suppress opposition voters.  I don’t know what the coming days will bring for Congo, but I do know that the people deserve better. The worst of our election drama in the U.S. (and it is pretty verbally ugly for the most part) doesn’t compare. I want to...

Please pray for peaceful elections ongoing in DRC today and for peace and safety following the results. The situation following elections could greatly effect the timing of my adoptions.  Thanks! After weekend clashes between supporters of rival parties and security forces firing on crowds, Congolese began voting on Monday.
